"Perception is Reality"

Local Pittsburgh rock band Identity X's new album Perception is Reality is a mixture of great lyrics, skilled musicians, and collection of creative melodies. Members David Toole , Darin "D-Napps" DiNapoli, Christopher Sheader, Martin Osacar, and Jim Krieger made this album with a particular sound which sets their band apart from others in their genre which tend to have the same mediocre musical garbage. Identity X has grown and show through their music, this album, and these tracks that they have evolved into what they are now.
Starting off the album right with the incredible song, "Archetype", its addicting beat and chorus is something to sing along to. With head banging potential, it's has great drum beats and flawless tempo change. Although the second song, "Overcome" produces a different sound with a slightly slower beat, the marvelous guitar melody at the beginning of the song is something to focus on and is electrifying to listen to. Incorporating some great lyrics and ending the song with a beautiful guitar solo this track was a success. "Fuel For Their Machine" has a rather interesting melody at the beginning, another slow tempo which builds up throughout the song and really keeps the interest and energy well. "This Addiction" is built like a classic hit and sounds a little like Papa Roach musically.
"The Depth Perception" holds a harder feel within the breakdowns, simply the constant change of sound makes each of the songs on the albums unique and entertaining to listen to. Using what seems like an Incubus sound in the beginning of the song, "Streets of my Past" implements another great compound of sound and vocals which could baffle any listener from the radical range of sound being sung. "Now "Waiting" is the song that threw me off guard, with a fun melody from the start this is definitely one of my favorite songs out of the album. "Blind Your Mind" and "Today's Extinguished" have strong vocals and a great beat. "Sleepwalking" changes it up a bit with a melody that sets itself apart from the others, with attractive guitar solos. "Catching The Shadows" sing alongs, fast guitar riffs, and loud drums make this a mosh pit masterpiece. "Blind Your Mind" acoustic makes a lovely ending piece for the CD, the piano makes a beautiful addition.
Identity X's new album Perception is Reality is a solid rock album and has all the correct ingredients for success.
